2025 continues to see a significant real estate trend emerge, one that is rooted in pandemic-era shifts and continues to evolve as market conditions change: the rise of the accidental landlord.
At the onset of the pandemic, the real estate market briefly stalled before a cultural shift toward remote work caused it to surge. Many relocated, chasing affordable living and more space while retaining their salaries. This migration spurred a real estate boom as hedge funds jumped in to buy properties at low interest rates. The result was skyrocketing home prices and intense competition, pushing buyers to offer above asking prices.
Fast forward a few years, and the market has reached a turning point.
