Solid teamwork and helping others are the hallmarks of great property management professionals. 

Before entering real estate full time, Charlie Mayer knew a thing or two about the merits of service and the value of mutually supportive relationships.

Prior to assuming the BDM role at Keyrenter Property Management Hampton Roads, he spent six years on active military duty in the U.S. Navy while living in Virginia Beach.

When it came time to transition back into civilian life, Charlie returned to an old influence:  His aunt was a lifetime real estate broker in Manhattan, where Charlie used to work with her, and in 2024, he stumbled across Keyrenter’s BDM job opening.

He set up an initial interview with RentScale’s Jennifer Merrit to discuss everything the role entailed. Charlie aced the interview and started with Keyrenter in June 2024.

He’s also topped the RentScale Business Development Scoreboard several times since then. That’s why the team at Strategic PM sat down with him to discover how the military mindset and a passion for connections are helping Charlie—and Keyrenter—thrive.
